LAS VEGAS (Feb. 24, 2014) – In celebration of Mardi Gras, Emeril Lagasse’s Las Vegas restaurants are offering traditional New Orleans-inspired cocktails and inviting guests to “lassiez les bons temps rouler” or let the good times roll.
From Feb. 28 through Fat Tuesday on March 4, Delmonico Steakhouse, Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House and Table 10 will feature three cocktails created by mixologist Max Solano to bring the spirit of Mardi Gras to the Las Vegas Strip.
Years before America’s oldest cocktail, the Sazerac, became legendary for its use of rye whiskey, it was commonly made with cognac brandy. Solano’s Throwback Sazerac ($15) will go back to its roots using Remy Martin 1738 cognac, sugar, old-fashioned aromatic bitters and Pernod Absinthe, stirred for exactly 40 rotations.
The Fleur Gin Fizz ($14) is a modernly light and flavorful variation of the world famous New Orleans born Ramos Gin Fizz made with Hendrick’s gin, Luxardo Maraschino, freshly squeezed lime juice, condensed milk, egg whites, rose flower water and tonic water, garnished with a floating red rose petal.
The simple and fun variation of another extremely popular Southern classic cocktail, the Rum Old-Fashioned, ($14) features Pusser’s British Naval rum in lieu of whiskey with oranges, Luxardo cherries, a sugar cube and black walnut bitters to make this unique libation.
