Aid for AIDS of Nevada Awarded Top Accreditation from CARF

LAS VEGAS (June 20, 2014) – Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) has once again been accredited by CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, for its client programs. The three-year accreditation is the highest and longest-running level of excellence by CARF and is the second time AFAN has earned the recognition.

Internationally considered the premier credential for rehabilitation programs, CARF accreditation decisions require a rigorous peer review process and on-site visits to demonstrate the program and services are of the highest quality and standards.

“We’re committed to providing our clients with the best service and support and we’re very proud to receive this recognition from CARF,” said AFAN Executive Director Antioco Carrillo. “The process attests to our staff’s continuous dedication to assist our community members living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.”

Now in its 30th year of providing support and advocacy, AFAN is Nevada’s oldest and largest HIV/AIDS organization. Last year, more than 4,000 local men, women and children visited the AFAN office to access services including medical case management, transportation, counseling, housing and utility assistance and emergency food vouchers.

CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes or services through a consultative accreditation process centering on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the organization establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
